Blogging is so fashionable these days! Due to a self-diagnosed genetic susceptibility to become a follower of popular mainstream trends, minus Veganism, I’ve gone ahead and jumped on the blogging bandwagon.

Naturally, the first thing I did was go to the most trendy mainstream search engine, Google, and typed in “How to write an amazing blog.” Here’s one of the top hits.

A couple bullet points in, I realized this was satire.

After going through several searches and several links all under the same general search idea of “how to write a successful blog,” I have surmised the following:

1. MAKE SURE YOUR BLOG HAS AN OVERLAYING THEME

My blog will be exclusively about my adventures in India! !

2. YOUR BLOG CAN HAVE MANY DIFFERENT THEMES.
My blog will be about my adventures in India! But it will also delve into issues in world politics, incorporate humor, and update you on daily gossip! In addition I will randomly post lolCats. People love lolCats.

3. A BLOG IS NOT A DIARY.
This means that I should not tell you about the haircut I recently got, nor the dissatisfaction I have with it. . That’s thing kind of thing you write in a diary.

4. A BLOG CAN BE A MEDIUM FOR YOU TO EXPRESS YOUR PERSONAL STORIES.
I got a haircut a couple days ago and my brother recently told me that it makes me look like a mom. Awesome.

5. HUMOR CAN OFTEN INCREASE BLOG TRAFFIC.

6. IF DONE INCORRECTLY, HUMOR CAN TURN PEOPLE OFF.

7. POST PICTURES

This is a homemade Bulbasaur cake!

8. “LINK, DON’T LABOR”

In all seriousness, I have an amazing opportunity this summer. I’m going to Chennai, India to work with an AIDS prevention program known as IAPA (International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS).

The group going to Chennai consists of about 20 kids, most from of U of A and the “holy trinity” from ASU. I can’t remember which part of the trinity I was designated so Preston or Aaron, if you remember, let me know. Once we reach Chennai, we will be teaching at various schools and community groups over the course of our two-month stay. With the free time I have, I will be experience parts of India that I have typically been sheltered from during the trips I have taken with my parents. I am excited for new adventures and new perspectives and I want to share them with you!
